Each fall, Drake Law Women hosts the Auction. Drake Law Students pay to come to the Auction to bid, eat, drink, and have a great time! The fun is led by Auctioneer Professor Neil Hamilton. All the money raised at the Auction is given to Drake Law Women's Emergency Fund.
Law school professors donate special dinners and other items that are available for the students to bid on. Examples of past donations include: Dinner for Four with Professor McCord at his house; One-hour ALWD session with Professor Edwards; Centro lunch with Professor Walker; a "Tort feasting" outing and dinner with Professor Albert; Cocktail Party with Professors Matt Dore and Laurie Dore. Students who have purchased these items in the past have given rave reviews!
In 2017-2018, the Auction raised over $3,400!
Baskets to Benefit
Baskets to Benefit is Drake Law Women's spring philanthropy event. Students and legal professionals participate in a silent auction of items donated from law firms. Along with the silent auction, food and drinks are available and the event provides a great networking opportunity for students and legal professionals.
All the proceeds from the event go to Children and Families of Iowa, a state-wide organization that provides services to domestic violence survivors, young mothers, and patients needing mental health services. They give presentations about their services at the event.
In 2016-2017, Baskets to Benefit raised over $1,854!
